The agreement signed on 28 November 2016 was completed within the expected time, laying the basis for the creation of the Italian-Japanese joint venture, the last act in a long process of assessment which FIAMM set up to identify a business partner with which to strengthen the strategic assets of the group and the safeguarding of the markets in which it is involved.
Today (14 February - ed.), “Hitachi Chemical” has completed the purchase of 51% of FIAMM Energy Technology SpA, the NewCo created following the separation of the FIAMM Group from the business of automotive batteries and industrial batteries using lead-acid technology. The FIAMM Group is a shareholder in the new company with 49% of the shares.
The joint-venture forms part of the medium-long term strategic plan of “Hitachi Chemical”, aimed at strenthening its role in the energy storage sector, by enhancing its productive capacity and its direct presence in fast-growing markets at world level.

The company based in Montecchio Maggiore (VI), leader in the production of automotive and industrial batteries, will be the official supplier for 2017 and 2018 of lead batteries for equipping the power generators made by PRAMAC in their European plants.

The Althea BMW Racing team and rider Raffaele De Rosa triumphed at the Spanish circuit of Jerez de la Frontera.
With a race cleverly closed in fifth position, Raffaele De Rosa on his BMW S 1000 RR won the 2016 Superstock 1000 FIM Cup.
This is a first title win for the Neapolitan rider, and the second Stock title for the Italian team after that scored in 2011.

The annual FIAMM Sales Network Convention, that this year took place in Cortina d’Ampezzo, ended with success. It has involved the FIAMM Italian sales networks of Mobility & Reserve Power Solutions business. Nearly 30 agents from around the country participated in numerous working meetings with the Sales, Marketing and General Management, who took the opportunity to reveal the positive results of the year just ended.
For Top Management, this was the opportunity to reveal a preview of the 2015 business results, which indicate a +6% revenue growth, up from 584 million in 2014 to 620 in 2015, reaching a total of 620 million euros.
These numbers are a success also for the various business areas concerned which during 2015 stood out by achieving major growth and market share consolidation results.
More in detail, Mobility Power Solutions (products and solutions for the mobility of today and tomorrow) closed 2015 in the positive with sales up by approximately 7%, nearly 8 million items sold worldwide and a revenue of 257 million euros, +10% compared to 2014. These results are especially significant considering the overall market situation which despite the pick-up in new car registrations still has to reach pre-crisis levels. Significant is the growth in the OE business area, driven by the sales of batteries for cars fitting Stop&Start systems. It is expected that 2016 will be full of new challenges in the OE area with the looming deadline for the new CO2 emission limits with which car makers need to comply by 2020. In the Aftermarket area, over four million parts were sold marking a 8.6% increase in exports. Ever more foreign partners are choosing FIAMM for their markets because of product quality and the visibility of a brand which is increasingly well known worldwide.
